The president’s meeting yesterday with his PNU candidates left them with smiles on their faces. In the meeting that was chaired by Vice president Moody Awori, the PNU candidates were challenged to ensure that president kibaki wins the December 27 General Election by a margin of more than a million votes. As they left the meeting at KICC, they went to their campaign headquaters and handed out T-shirts, caps, their presidential candidates’ posters and other campaign materials. The candidates were promised at least kshs.500,000 each for logistics with promises of more depending on the level of opposition each faced. The president also promised that he would visit the candidates in their constituencies to stamp the party’s authority and jobs in the next government. He added that the candidates should focus on the future and not the past in their campagns. Nevertheless the president was satisfied that Kenyans were with him and supported PNU saying that would help in building the Kenya to be proud of.
